Description

Sandy Neck Lighthouse

The Barnstable Historical Society is seeking donations to help fund the purchase of a Magyar giant illuminated sculpture to be displayed in front of the BHS Museum in memory of our late BHS Board President John Stackhouse. It was John’s vision to display a similar giant “Sandy Neck Lighthouse” sculpture during the holiday season to compliment the lighted sculptures in front of St. Mary’s Church and the Sturgis Library on the west end of Barnstable Village. Donations made to the Lighthouse Project in excess of the lighthouse sculpture cost will be dedicated to other BHS Museum projects in appreciation of John’s love of history.

About the Artist
The GIANTS’ story begins with Michael Magyar, a talented glass artist and sculptor, who arrived in Sandwich in 1992 and opened The Glass Studio on Cape Cod. In business here for over two decades now, Magyar and his staff create blown glass art pieces for sale and exhibition. Just for fun, Magyar created his first GIANT, a glassblower he calls “Moto-San,” back in 1996. Today, the GIANTS illuminated sculptures grace the lawns of more than 35 businesses and private homes mainly along Route 6A, in Sandwich and other towns on Cape Cod
